Following the Light Ministries exists to boldly live out Hebrews 13:16 by doing good and sharing what we have with those in need.
We are committed to bringing hope, dignity, and the love of Christ to our unsheltered community through service, compassion, and fellowship.
We believe that every act of kindness is a sacrifice pleasing to God, and we strive to be a light in dark places —meeting practical needs while pointing hearts toward the eternal light and lasting hope that lies in Him - King Jesus.

To Seek and To Serve
My name is Schivonne - in early 2026 I received a clear call to action from The Lord. Following the Light Ministries was lovingly named by my children, who were inspired by the message of the David movie—a reflection of faith, hope, following God’s guidance and being strong and courageous. This is a sentimnt that beautifully reflects our mission. We are based at Church on The Hill in Hillsboro, Texas and we are committed to seek and to serve those who are lost and in need.
To Extend Hands of Hope
Our hearts are dedicated to providing a service that reaches outside of the walls of our church and into the communities of the unhoused - meeting them at their point of need and serving them with resources that reflect love and compassion. We strive to become conduits of the love, compassion, mercy and grace that has been freely offered to us through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Build Cohesive Communities Through Fellowship
We are 100% volunteer supported and donation funded. We rely on the kindness and support of our local Church and surrounding community to extend support towards those that need it. Unity reflects The Lord's heart and scripture makes it very clear that we are supposed to do life together, expand our territories, encourage, edify, love, serve and carry each other's burdens.
Lead with Love and Compassion
To lead with love and compassion means we see every person, not as their circumstances, but as someone worthy of dignity, respect and hope. Love allows us to meet immediate needs, compassion calls us to listen, understand and walk alongside each individual with patience and grace. Our ministry is not just about providing resources, but about restoring humanity, building trust and reminding each person they are not forgotten.
To Serve as A House of Hospitality
To serve as a house of hospitality means creating a space where all are welcomed, valued and treated with genuine kindness. We believe every person deserves to be received with open hearts, without judgement or condition. This core value reminds us that true service is rooted in generosity, humility and willingness to meet people where they are.
OUR OUTREACH PROGRAMS
NOURISHMENT
We have beautiful families who provide healthy, balanced, nutritious meals and clean water during our outreach assignments to ensure no neighbor in our community goes hungry or thirsty while we're serving.
ESSENTIAL SUPPLIES
We have beautiful families who provide hygiene essentials and a thriving Church community who provide clothing and blankets to protect the vulnerable from the elements with dignity.
CRISIS ADVOCACY
Connecting individuals to community resources to forge paths toward stability.
